Truck drivers’ driving style analysis

Kamionos Vezetési Stíluselemzés nyomkövetővel

Would you like to analyze the driving style of your drivers?

Using our system, it takes only the push of a button to receive detailed statistics about brake utilization by your employees, gas pedal position, rpm distribution, and virtually every data that can be acquired from your vehicles.

Our system continuously monitors the valuable information received from your vehicle’s CAN bus, and makes statistics for each driver, with makes it easy to compare the driving style of employees and check if the general rules of driving technique are observed.

Gas pedal position, cruise control

Effective acceleration is an important part of fuel-effective traffic. When accelerating, the engine operates optimally if throttling is not excessive. In case of excessive throttling, combustion is not optimal, meaning that more and more fuel must be injected to achieve acceleration; meaning that accelerating slower is cheaper.

Gas pedal use and cruise control use are displayed in percentages according to the following:

  • 1 – 60% Ideal range.
  • 60 – 80% Might be justified in case of heavy cargo, when accelerating on a steep slope.
  • 80 – 100% To be avoided.
  • Pedal to the metal: To be avoided absolutely
  • Cruise control: Data about switching on cruise control are also collected. Since it is possible to accelerate while cruise control is active, sums above 100% are possible.

Speed distribution

The fuel consumption of trucks can be significantly influenced by choosing the travel speed. Trucks generally travel on motorway at an average speed of 90 km/h, and many of them are limited to this speed. We have found that if they typically drive at 70 km/h, then consumption is reduced by 4 liters, and if they travel at 100 km/h instead of 90 km/h, then this results in approximately 4 liters of additional fuel consumption (and carries the risk of being fined). If a truck is forced to travel at a very low speed range, e.g. 30-40 km/h, then this also increases fuel consumption. Because of the above, when investigating the fuel consumption of trucks, it is important to know the speed range they were travelling at.
